Maybe Yes, but don't worry, you're reading this page and we'll share the solutions.
Erase the confidential file instead of delete
Since Windows Delete operation only removed the reference of the files, the de facto file is still there and it is visible for file recovering software, so we'll erase the confidential file instead of just simply delete it. Here're the steps of erasing confidential files and folders in ByebyeData Eraser:
1 Run this program as administrator after downloaded and installed, then click 'Yes' to the UAC window, in Windows 10, it will ask your permission to run any software according to the default setting.
2Click Erase files and folders tab, then click Add files to add the confidential data in your computer. Before you step forward, recheck the list to make sure no other irrelevant files are mistakenly added, you know, once Eraser starts to erase, nothing can be recovered.
3 Select a wiping method for the confidential files, DoD 5220.22-M are widely used in universities and companies, it is a 3-passes government standard of the United States, and the 3-pass algorithm is the popular one years ago, but recent research indicated that one pass overwrite is sufficient, which is Simple Overwrite in ByebyeData Eraser.
4 Click Erase Now, then click 'Yes' when Eraser asks you to confirm.
This plan can be applied to situation when you have less confidential files to erase, and this plan can also be troublesome if the entire computer is used in business environment and all the drives have stored huge amount of commercial information, erasing individual file is just impossible. Don't close ByebyeData Eraser, we'll use it again to erase the entire computer if it is about to be returned, given away, donated or sold.
